Ruby #18 is a tea made with the #18 or Hong Yu cultivar. In 1999 the Hong Yu cultivar was created in the TTRES by combining a wild Taiwanese tea varietal with an Assamica varietal from Burma. Ruby #18 is most commonly grown and harvested in Yuchi Township, Nantou County, Taiwan.
