Ruby 18 GABA

Ruby 18 GABA

$6.00

GABA translates to Gamma-amino Butyric Acid. GABA tea was first produced in Japan. The tea was created to introduce higher levels of Gamma-amino Butyric Acid into the brain to inhibit nerve transmission, thus calming nervous behavior.

Though, GABA tea was first created in Japan, the majority of this tea is produced in Taiwan. After withering, tea leaves are placed into a steel drum, all oxygen is removed, and the drum is flushed with nitrogen. This anaerobic and nitrogen rich environment increases the level of GABA in the leaves.

This batch of GABA tea is made with the Ruby 18 cultivar. When produced like a black tea, this cultivar presents a nice wintergreen undertone that is unique. Due to the GABA production, that quality isn't as apparent, but it's still there.
